It’s been a long time coming, but summer’s finally here! Here in our neck of the woods (British Columbia, Canada), the kids’ summer break started a full two weeks early (thanks to a full-on teacher’s strike). Instead of panic (my first reaction, I admit), I’ve decided to embrace it. What better excuse for a summer packed full of fun? We’re going to be hitting the local pool, running through sprinklers in the back yard, and playing in the park.
All that fun means we’ll be needing cool, refreshing drinks to help beat the heat. I’ve been experimenting with easy, healthy smoothie recipes, and fell in love with this simply, healthy berry Silk Almond smoothie the first time I made it. But first, for all you wonderful Canadians out there, we have a great giveaway brought to you by Silk Almond.

Berry Blast Silk Almond Summer Smoothie (with a touch of honey)
And now for the recipe. Actually, I feel a little guilty about calling this a recipe. Basically, you take some fresh, delicious, healthy ingredients, whip them up in a blender and enjoy. Not much cooking involved.
First, gather your ingredients: Silk Almond, ice cubes, fresh blueberries and strawberries, and honey.
I used unsweetened Silk Almond. It’s only 35 calories a serving, and a wonderful source of Vitamin D. Drop all of that healthy goodness in a blender, and mix.
Voila! You have a healthy, simple treat that both you and your kids will love. This smoothie is dairy free, soy free and even gluten free, making it a fantastic choice for families with food allergies and sensitivities.

I used unsweetened Silk Almond in this smoothie, but you can easily use sweetened, and reduce the added honey.
